Make out of man and wife a circle, from which a square, than a triangle, afterwards again a circle and you will have the philosopher's stone. The squaring of the circle is in itself nothing strange. Out of the changing of the square into a triangle shall grow body, soul and holy ghost. By the squaring of the circle it is demonstrated, that out of each body the four elements must be seperated, which appear in three short colours before the red. The body is associated with the saturnian black, the holy ghost with the watery-white of the moon and the soul with the airy-citric yellow. Now when the triangle has reached its' highest perfection, it has to be brought back to a circle, which is signified by immutable red. By this the wife turns into man and both become one. Through the rotation of the elements sprouts in the union of above and below, from fire and water the unchanging "Lapis"-stone, the heavenly image of earthly gold.
